Digital Painting Drawing 3
This week, the assignment was to draw an object from nature using Watercolor brushes and Airbrushes in Corel Painter. For the color scheme, we could choose between any primary/secondary Complementary pair and I chose Yellow/Violet.
I used the following brushes: Fractal Wash Fringe, Background Wash, Real Wet Detail, Real Wet Flowmap Wash, Real Wet Sponge, Speckle Runny Palette Knife, Speckle Tiger Lily, and the detail Airbrush for the highlights.
For the most part, I found it very enjoyable to work with the watercolor brushes though they could sometimes be a bit unpredictable. Also, I found it somewhat difficult not being able to lighten areas without using an eraser since the watercolor brushes are translucent. It was also an interesting challenge to draw my gecko from life. I had to sketch extremely quickly because I didn't know how long she would tolerate it and I didn't want to stress her out. I also had to constantly adjust my drawing on the fly as she moved (I'm glad I had gotten familiar with the transform tools before this project because it allowed me to quickly adjust my drawing as needed). Luckily, I was able to distract her with food so she didn't move too much.
